AMERICAN RARE BREED ASSOCIATION SHOW CALENDAR
Welcome to the King Shepherd Club International

The KSCI is an inclusive organization and welcomes "all" American King Shepherds & their owners to our events, shows & as members.
The American King Shepherd breed began it's development in 1996. The original vision was of an extra large or giant-sized German Shepherd. The vision included differences in temperament, conformation and size - as compared to the German Shepherd. The German Shepherd is the foundation of the American King Shepherd.
The first rare breed organization that recognized the American King Shepherd was ARBA [American Rare Breed Association, followed by International Rarities & North American Kennel Club (NAKC)]. Its definition on how a G1 generation American King Shepherd could be produced was by "breeding a King to a German Shepherd; breeding a King to a Shiloh Shepherd [another "rare breed" which is influenced by the German Shepherd]; and breeding a German Shepherd to a Shiloh Shepherd." Originally, the American King Shepherd was produced by selective breedings of specific bloodlines of German Shepherd dogs that deviated from the AKC "ideal" German Shepherd Standard of the Breed. Using the Shiloh Shepherd was disallowed several years ago.
The American King Shepherd is unique because it deviates from the "ideal" German Shepherd that is described in the AKC German Shepherd Standard of the Breed. The goal of the KSCI & KSCIR is to work on the evolution of the American King Shepherd breed by carefully selecting breeding pairs through health/temperament testing as well as utilizing DNA testing on all dogs registered with the KSCIR.
MISSION STATEMENT
The KSCI's mission is to only breed dogs when our breed knowlege, experience and dedication to the American King Shepherd breed will result in a mating that will produce an outstanding litter with qualities that are so close as possible to the Standard of the Breed. Our goal is to preserve and enhance the characteristics that make up the American King Shepherd through DNA and health/temperament testing.
We are currently working to incorporate the KSCI after which we will begin to establish non-profit status. In the future we would like to establish the American King Shepherd Foundation whose goal will be to provide a venue for health research.
